walking toward the bridge. on Flickr.
Thursday was the first day that some trains rolled back into service. This meant very limited service and lots and lots of crowding. Since I knew I was going into the office, I left my house before 7am and knew better than to go to the nearest station to my apartment with service, Roosevelt Avenue/Jackson Heights. Normally, 5 train routes service that station, the E, F, M, R, and 7. On Thursday, only the F was running local from 179th Street in Jamaica to 34th Street. I knew that station was going to be impossible, so I didn’t even think of attempting to get on over there. I walked toward the bridge, and once I got to Queensborough Plaza, I had an idea - get on the N, take it back to Astoria, and then double back toward the city. I’m glad I did that, because I had a seat the whole way.
