Back in February (and during Social Media Week), Instagram and the W Hotel Times Square had a pretty awesome event that showcased their Extreme Wow suite. There was a DJ, drinks, and amazing views. This is just the entrance to the hotel…event photos to follow.

Friday morning over by Times Square. Only a few blocks south of here, there was no power. Around here, I overheard a tourist say casually “it’s not as bad as they are saying in the news.” Obviously, this person was completely ignorant to what was going on downtown and throughout the city, staying in their Midtown bubble. I wanted to say something, but bit my tongue and continued walking.

This past Wednesday night, I participated in the Summer Solstice Yoga event in Times Square. I signed up weeks ago for the 7pm session, led by Dana of Laughing Lotus Yoga NY which was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done. To find “mind over madness” in the middle of the city is quite inspiring, and the energy was amazing. What was even more crazy, is that among thousands of participants, I happened to be right next to someone I know! Here’s a shot I snapped during a water break.

Wednesday was the official start to summer, and I signed up to participate in the annual Solstice Yoga in Times Square. I participated in the 7pm session, but since I work in the area, I decided to check out the scene during my lunch break (also, to navigate where check-in was for my session after work). The midday session was all about the Bikram Yoga, which must have been heaven for these hot yoga enthusiasts, being that it was about 100 degrees at 12:30 when their session began.
