Lexington Avenue/51st Street Station on Flickr.
On President’s Day, I had to go to work and the 7 wasn’t running all the way into the city, so I took the E to Lex, thinking I could get the 6 down to Grand Central. Turns out, there were no downtown trains at 51st (downtown trains were running express that day), so I just left the station and walked to work (it’s really not that far). The station was actually not so crowded since most people were off from work.

patrolling the gas line. on Flickr.
On the way back, we had a LOT of traffic mainly because of gas lines. In the Rockaways as well as in other areas, there was a strong police presence. While in the car, we found out that gas rationing was going into effect the next day.
