Woodside LIRR Platform. Day after Sandy. on Flickr.Yesterday afternoon, the LIRR station (and 7 platform on the upper level) remains empty as mass transit remained suspended. I did hear some train activity - gathering that those were maintenance crews assessing damage, but I didn’t see a thing.

sheepshead bay station. on Flickr.A couple of times a year, I like to make my so-called pilgrimage to my childhood neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. My family moved to Bayside, Queens in July of 1981, right after I finished first grade. My grandparents still lived there and we made frequent visits for many years. The neighborhood has changed so much over the past 30 plus years, but I have so many fond memories and always go back.
