For the past few years, Bryant Park’s lawn has been transformed into Citi Pond. The ice skating rink was originally supposed to open just before Hurricane Sandy hit, but it’s very good that they postponed the opening of the rink. The rink will open this Thursday, weather pending and the annual holiday shops that are lined up throughout the park are already open.

The last time Union Square felt this gloomy to me was after 9/11. I remember the heaviness in the air, and the somber mood. Just walking around with everything (for the most part) shut down felt surreal and very sad. Two very different disasters, but still heart-wrenching.

Bryant Park has so many activities, from the summer Broadway and movie series to yoga, knitting, and juggling. Here are a couple of youngsters learning how to juggle.

Each Thursday afternoon through the summer, Broadway comes to Bryant Park. It’s often PACKED, especially with many nearby workers, tourists, and day camps checking out the performances.
