vendor. antique garage, chelsea. on Flickr.Since 1993, the Antiques Garage Flea Market has called the garage between 6th and 7th Avenues in Chelsea home every weekend. Last summer, it was announced that the popular antiquing spot (which has some amazing and unique finds) would be closing, but due to an 11th hour deal, the spot would be on a month-to-month deal until the owners, Extell Development decide not to renew. Under the agreement, they can give the popular market merely two weeks notice to close up shop. The developer bought the property in 2006 and the future of the market has been in limbo since, as the rumor is that they’d like to built a hotel there. The area is becoming quite a popular hotel location, as many have popped up in the area over the past few years.

the queens plaza ruins on Flickr.
This is one old picture I snapped back in 2008 of the garage ruins from the window of the 7. It shows all the overgrowth and neglect the structure fell prey to. Not the greatest shot I have of the building, but the one I could most easily retrieve from my Flickr.
